Services

Our clinic provides services solely to adults, treating ages 18-99.

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy is the one-on-one work between a provider and a client. There are many different styles of therapy, but all of them center around helping the client reach their goals. Individual therapy has been shown to improve mood and self-esteem. Therapy can be helpful for anyone who does not feel content with their current quality of life due to external circumstances, struggles within relationships, trauma, troublesome thoughts, problem behaviors, or difficulty regulating emotions. Traditionally sessions are scheduled once a week for 45-50 minutes depending on the need of the client. Sessions can also occur biweekly and once the client is able to manage their symptoms independently then monthly maintenance sessions are recommended.

Psychological Assessments

Psychological Assessments can serve various functions that include the clarification of a diagnoses for a psychiatric condition. It may also be used for medical evaluations to determine if a client is a good candidate for a medical procedure (i.e. bariatric surgery, transplants). Assessments can also be utilized to make a clinical determination about an individual’s capacity to continue to handle their finances and/or their daily activities. These type of capacity evaluations are common in the geriatric population as certain neurodegenerative conditions affect cognition and diminish the capacity of the individual to handle their day to day affairs. Personality assessments are used to diagnose psychological conditions as well as to screen candidates for college and employment. Overall assessments are a helpful tool to assist in guiding a client’s treatment.

Neuropsychological Assessments

Why would someone need a neuropsych evaluation?

The evaluation is helpful to determine the presence, nature, and severity of cognitive dysfunction. It provides a baseline to monitor future changes in cognitive abilities, mood and personality, including treatment effects.

A neuropsychological evaluation is a test to measure how well a person's brain is working. The abilities tested include reading, language usage, attention, learning, processing speed, reasoning, remembering, problem-solving, mood and personality and more.

Neuropsychological testing can help evaluate and diagnose individuals with neurocognitive disorders, including various forms of dementia, cognitive disorders due to traumatic brain injury (TBI), Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and Huntington's diseases.
